Pacific student careers event first of its kind in Otago.

Sixty-eight exhibitors and professionals from a range of professions greeted 300 young Pacific people in years 11-13 from 19 different schools at the Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin to help inspire career options.  Many of these exhibitors were born, raised, and educated in Dunedin.

The New Dunedin Hospital exhibition attracted many students considering their next steps.

The event was designed with input from youth attending the Pacific Trust Otago's holiday programme. Believed to be the first of its kind in the South Island, the event was so popular that the free buses provided were filled well in advance.

Workforce Central Dunedin joined with the Ministry of Social Development, Pacific Trust Otago, Connected, Otago Community Trust, Ministry of Education, My Next Move, Business South, Internal Affairs and Mercy Hospital to put together the event, encouraging attendees to be their authentic selves and dream big.

Students were also inspired by former Manu Samoa rugby captain Filipo Levi who revved up the crowd and told them that the key to approaching life was to "roar" (relationships, own it, attitude, and respect).

Organisers hope to make this an annual event.
